September has been an awesome month across the boards for online poker players and operators alike, but today’s top story comes from FullTiltPoker where five exceptionally talented online poker players have already earned over $1 million in September alone.

Topping the list is professional poker player Phil Ivey, known for his extreme skills, unwavering poker face, 5 WSOP Bracelet wins and nearly $10 million in live tournament cashes over his phenomenal career.

The long-awaited 2008 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) finally got underway last weekend, and BodogPoker has found a way to keep its members right there in the action without the need to fly potentially halfway around the world.

To the elation of its tournament participants, Full Tilt Poker experienced yet another overlay in its most lucrative weekly event, collecting the $200 buy-in from a field of 3,643, which translates to $728,600 of the guaranteed $750k prize pool. The online poker room has not seen the required numbers to boost its purse over the guarantee in quite some time now.

Scheduled for 6:00 pm ET as always, the action kicked off at 2 minutes past the hour. The rails filled up quickly as players fell to the way side, one-by-one, until a final table of 9 was reached. Online poker fans looked on expectantly while the numbers further dwindled.

“RonJovi7” was eliminated in 4th, followed soon after by the exit of “absolute6” in 3rd position, earning $41,400 and $52,500 respectively. This left “nounet” of Belgium to go heads-up against “acatlover” in an all-out battle to the finish.

The blinds reached an impressive $80k/$160k after 9 hours of play when the final hand came down. It was anyone’s game at this point, but favor suited “acatlover” this day, ousting “nounet” to pocket the 1st place prize of $132,788. For the 2nd place victory, “nounet” was awarded a well deserved $80,250.

BodogPoker held a WSOPE “Euro Main Event Semi-Final” Qualifier Sunday that guaranteed at least 2 seats in the upcoming WSOPE Main Event with prize packages worth $24,000. The top two finishers, Cory “Ozone23” Albertson and “syzygy3732”, will both be on their way to London later this month.

With a $500+$40 buy-in, it comes with some surprise that only 53 players took part in the WSOPE Main Event Semi-Final as BodogPoker.com continues to struggle with player participation. One more time, PokerStars saw enough entries to hike the prize pool to $146,800 as 734 players converged on the WCOOP Event #4 tables. This time it took not quite 15 hours for a victor to emerge as “mardene” fell victim to “playitsafe” in the final hand of heads-up action.

While most of the world was enjoying a relaxing Sunday afternoon, much of the online poker community was poised to take on the weekly PokerStars.com Sunday Million, with a guaranteed prize pool of $1.5 million.

7,212 online poker players leapt into the action at www.PokerStar.net last Sunday, resulting in something the online poker room is no longer accustomed to – an overlay. While 7,200 players is a massive number, the extreme prize pool of $1.5 million is also massive in its own right, and requires the attendance of 7,500 to cover. Considering PokerStar.com’ regular track record of surpassing that number to boost its guarantees by hundreds of thousands, I must say it was a bit of a shocker to see the online poker room’s first Sunday Million overlay in a very long time.

One by one, more than 7,000 players were quickly eliminated from their virtual seats, left to watch on the sidelines as everyone competed to finish within the top 1,080 spots – the precious “money bubble”. It was a true battle to the bitter end, lasting one minute shy of 12 hours before a winner was revealed.
